Editorial charter
A diagnosis, not a doctrine.
The Regenerative Citizen is a magazine about the economy as it is lived and as it could be run. Our premise is that the dominant economic logic is extractive, that sustainability as usually practiced is a gentler form of the same logic, and that a regenerative alternative exists in theory, in practice, and in evidence. We cover that alternative with the rigor the financial press applies to the extractive one.
What we promise
- We report what we can verify and mark what we cannot.
- Analysis is labeled as analysis. Opinion is labeled as opinion. Case evidence names its source, its method, and its limits.
- We pay our contributors.
- A publication whose thesis is that extraction is the problem will not run on unpaid labor from its own community. Contributors retain copyright to their work.
- We publish writers who disagree with one another and with us.
- The masthead carries a diagnosis, not a doctrine.
- We write in plain language at every tier.
- The member tier goes deeper, not denser.
- We take no advertising.
- No paid placement, no sponsored articles, no advertising of any kind. Our revenue is memberships. If that ever changes, this charter will say so before the change takes effect.
- We correct errors promptly and visibly.
- Corrections appear at the top of the article with the date and the nature of the change.
What we discloseThe Regenerative Citizen is published by Earthonomy LLC, which also publishes books through Earthonomy Press™ and operates the Earthonomy™ platform. We will cover these. When we do, the article carries a disclosure line at the top, not the bottom.
